Energy efficiency in the U.S. - statistics & facts

Over the last 10 years, the United States has avoided over 1.5 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions from implementing energy efficiency measures in the electric power industry. Reducing greenhouse gas emissions is one of the benefits of energy efficiency, which also include decreasing demand for energy imports, and lower costs for households and the national economy. Opportunities for improvements in energy efficiency are achievable in all sectors in the U.S., including buildings, services, and manufacturing industries.
